I originally created this space for myself in August of 2011. I had just discovered the world of Kemetic Orthodox – a revival of Ancient Egyptian worship – and wanted to create a blog dedicated to the things that I learned as I traveled down the path. However, if you look, you’ll see that this place remained empty during that month, and for many months after that.
Why, you ask?
I guess I got overwhelmed and maybe just a tiny bit scared. I’ve spent most of my life thinking that if I didn’t know everything about a subject, then my opinion was of little value. I clammed up and kept to myself, preferring to study privately and keep my experiences, thoughts, and opinions to myself because I was too afraid to admit that I just didn’t know everything.
So why am I here now, after all this time?
I suppose I’ve come to realize that knowing everything isn’t what’s important. If there’s one thing I’ve learned since diving into this world, it’s that we all have our own experiences, and they’re neither right, nor wrong. They just are, and they’re important to us as individuals. What we do with them is our own choice.
And I’m choosing to share my personal world with you. I’m not always going to have a clue about what I’m talking about. Expect me to make mistakes. Feel free to offer your guidance, your suggestions, and hopefully somewhere down the road, I’ll be able to do the same for you and we can share this beautiful world together, learning together. Because you can never know too much about anything.
Welcome to The Sky at Dawn, a place of acceptance, knowledge, and most of all, a place of new beginnings.
